AE Dor is best known for its exclusive old cognacs. The company was founded in 1858 by Baptiste Dor, then took the name AE Dor in 1889, in honor of his son Amedée Eduard Dor. In 1972, the company was sold to the Bénédictine group, but in 1982, it was "rescued" from this group by Jacques and Odile Rivière. It was quite a surprise to find a huge stock of very old cognacs. Odile Rivière seemed to have a natural talent for blending and became a famous cellar master. Her cognacs are highly sought after by connoisseurs worldwide. Unfortunately, Odile died quite young in a car accident. Jacques continued the business, and now their son, Pierre-Antoine Rivière, is the company's leader.
Their logo is a crown atop a laurel branch holding the capital letter D. Below is the establishment date and their name. In the past, other emblems have been used. One notable feature of AE Dor is that they issue many series, which makes them interesting for collectors.
