Grande Champagne – Estate of Madame Paul Ragnaud (Blend 1875–1914)
A rare witness to the history of Cognac
From the prestigious Grande Champagne region, this exceptional cognac comes from the estate of Madame Paul Ragnaud, a key figure in the history of the family house based in Ambleville. It is a rare blend of eaux-de-vie distilled between 1875 and 1914, offering a unique glimpse into a century of craftsmanship and viticultural heritage.
The blend combines pre-phylloxera cognacs, from the last ungrafted vines (“francs de pied”), with post-phylloxera spirits, distilled from the first grafted vines replanted after the vineyard crisis that reshaped the Cognac region. Slowly aged in Limousin oak casks, the result is a depth and aromatic complexity that modern productions can no longer replicate.
The bottle is simple and unadorned, reflecting the authenticity of a bottling likely intended for private or family use. The handwritten label is signed P. Ragnaud — by Paul Ragnaud himself — adding historical and personal significance to the piece.
A rare and irreplaceable bottle, destined for discerning collectors and lovers of deep, time-infused spirits.
