Lussac Saint Emilion AOC Chateau Haut Gazeau
Located at the highest point of the area known as "Gazeau", hence the origin of its name, the Chateau HAUT-GAZEAU estate extends over 9 hectares planted with 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, on sandy-clay soils and a clay-limestone subsoil. The average age of the vines is 40 years.
Traditional growing methods are used, with the utmost respect for the soil and the vines: leaf thinning and removal are carried out, if necessary, according to climatic conditions and the progress of the vegetative cycle. Fermentation and vatting are temperature-controlled. The entire harvest is matured in French oak barrels selected according to the vintage, then bottled at the château.
Thanks to the quality and exposure of the terroir, Chateau HAUT-GAZEAU wines are charming, round and fruity Lussac Saint Emilion wines that can also be excellent wines for laying down.
Tasting notes from the Jouan & Crebassa oenology report in Libourne.
Carmine-red color with some evolutionary nuances.
Warm nose, sweet notes - ripe fruit - fig jam - slight hint of toastiness, good density on the palate with relief and dynamism.
The tannins are well coated and contribute to this effect of relief and freshness through a hint of vivacity that gives it a very pleasant aromatic length.
A wine with a sunny profile, with warm, spicy flavors supported by a fine tension on the finish. A fine success - already flattering as a whole, but its optimum drinking age should be around 2025 - 2028.
